Ayariga Mocks NPP’s ‘Micro Minority’ After New MPs Are Sworn In

Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, playfully teased the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus following the swearing-in of newly elected Members of Parliament for Akwatia and Tamale Central.

Addressing Parliament on Tuesday, Mr. Ayariga noted that the recent by-elections in Akwatia, Tamale Central, and Ablekuma have now completed the full composition of the House — but at the expense of the NPP’s already dwindling numbers.

“With these two elections — Akwatia and Tamale Central — and the one that took place in Ablekuma, this House is now fully constituted,” he said.

“The independent members of this House remain four. The NPP, which previously had a micro minority of 88, has seen its number shrink further to 87,” he added, prompting laughter across the chamber.
