Two Arrested Over Theft of Jewels at the Louvre Museum in Paris

French police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of valuable jewels from the world-renowned Louvre Museum in Paris.

According to reports, the stolen items — believed to be part of a temporary exhibition — went missing earlier this month under mysterious circumstances. Authorities say the suspects, both former contract workers at the museum, were detained after security footage and internal audits revealed irregularities during the exhibition period.

The jewels, reportedly worth several hundred thousand euros, are yet to be recovered. Police investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspects acted alone or were part of a larger network.

A spokesperson for the Louvre confirmed the incident, adding that the museum has since tightened its security protocols to prevent future occurrences. “We are cooperating fully with the authorities to ensure the safe recovery of the stolen artefacts,” the statement read.

The Louvre Museum, home to iconic works such as the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, attracts millions of visitors each year. This latest incident marks one of the most high-profile security breaches in its recent history.
