Black Sherif Reveals He Filed for Two Grammy Categories

Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has disclosed that he has officially filed his works for consideration in two categories at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Speaking in an interview, the “Kwaku the Traveller” hitmaker explained that he and his management team carefully submitted entries for the categories they believed best represented his sound and global reach.

“Yes, I filed for two categories. I can’t mention them all now, but we did our homework and followed the process. We just have to wait and see how things turn out,” Black Sherif shared confidently.

The 22-year-old artist, known for his distinctive fusion of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and highlife, said earning a Grammy nomination has been one of his biggest dreams since he began his music journey. He expressed optimism that Ghanaian music is gaining global attention and believes his submission is another step toward putting the country on the world map.

“It’s not just about me — it’s for Ghana, for African youth chasing their dreams. We’re breaking boundaries,” he added.

Although Black Sherif did not disclose the exact categories, industry watchers speculate that his “Take Care of Yourself Blacko” EP and his hit singles from 2024 could fall under Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Album.

If nominated, Black Sherif would join the growing list of African artists making waves on the international stage, following the success of stars like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Tems at the Grammys.
