Ghanaian musician Lasmid has revealed that, despite being known for Afrobeats and hit records, his personal music taste leans heavily toward Muslim and Indian songs.
In an interview, the “Friday Night” hitmaker explained that these genres give him a sense of calm and spiritual connection that he doesn’t always find in mainstream music.
“I mostly listen to Muslim or Indian songs. They give me peace. Sometimes it’s not every day you want loud music—these ones help me relax,” he said.
Lasmid noted that many people would assume he listens mostly to Afrobeats, Highlife, or Hip-hop because of his career, but his playlists are actually dominated by soothing melodies, chants, and cinematic Indian compositions.
According to him, these types of songs also inspire his creativity and help him focus when working on new projects.
His revelation has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with many praising his diverse taste in music, while others say they are surprised to learn about his unconventional listening habits.
Lasmid continues to rise as one of Ghana’s most promising artists, and he says drawing inspiration from different cultures helps shape his sound and artistic identity.
