A young woman who was kidnapped in the Northern Region has been successfully rescued by the Police in Wapuli, following a swift and coordinated operation that led to the arrest of three suspects.
According to police sources, the victim was abducted earlier this week, prompting an intensive search by officers from the Wapuli District and regional units. Intelligence-led operations eventually traced the suspects to a hideout on the outskirts of the community.
Police officials say the rescue mission was executed without harm to the victim, who is currently receiving medical care and psychological support.
The three suspects, whose identities are being withheld pending investigations, were arrested at the scene. They are believed to be part of a group involved in criminal activities across the area.
“The prompt rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects demonstrate our unwavering commitment to combating violent crime and protecting the public,” the Police said in a statement.
Investigations are ongoing, with officers working to determine whether additional accomplices were involved and whether the suspects are connected to other kidnapping incidents in the region.
Residents of Wapuli have praised the police for their swift action, noting that the incident had caused widespread fear in the community.
The suspects are expected to be charged once investigations are complete.
