Ghana Exports First Batch of 121 Nurses to Antigua Under GLEP

Ghana has successfully exported its first batch of 121 nurses to Antigua under the Ghana Labour Export Policy (GLEP), marking a major milestone in the country’s efforts to promote skilled workforce mobility abroad.

The nurses, who completed rigorous training and certification, will provide healthcare services in Antigua, strengthening the Caribbean nation’s medical workforce while creating opportunities for professional growth and international experience for Ghanaian healthcare personnel.

Officials from the Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies lauded the initiative, emphasising that the deployment aligns with Ghana’s broader strategy to leverage its skilled human capital for global opportunities, generate remittances, and build international partnerships.

The Ghana Labour Export Policy (GLEP), launched to formalise and regulate the overseas employment of Ghanaian professionals, ensures that workers are properly trained, certified, and legally protected while working abroad.

This first batch of nurses represents a significant step in operationalising GLEP, with plans underway to deploy additional skilled professionals to other partner countries in the coming months.
