2026 World Cup: GFA President Raises Concern Over Rising Injuries in Black Stars Squad

The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has expressed concern over the growing number of injuries within the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on the team’s preparations, Mr Okraku noted that the increasing injury cases among key players could pose a significant challenge to Ghana’s campaign if not properly managed.

He emphasised the need for careful medical monitoring and close collaboration between the national team’s technical staff and players’ respective clubs to ensure proper recovery and fitness management.

“Injuries are part of the game, but the timing is worrying,” he indicated, stressing that player welfare remains a top priority as the team intensifies preparations for the global tournament.

The GFA President also assured supporters that measures are being taken to strengthen the squad depth, allowing capable replacements to step in when needed.

Ghana is expected to finalise its core squad in the coming months as the Black Stars aim to mount a competitive challenge at the 2026 World Cup.
