Abu Trica sues Interior Ministry, NACOC, EOCO and FBI over alleged unlawful arrest and rights violations

Abu Trica has filed a lawsuit against Ghana’s Interior Ministry, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), alleging unlawful arrest, detention and violations of his fundamental human rights.

According to court documents, the plaintiff claims that the actions of the security agencies during his arrest and subsequent detention breached due process and caused significant personal and reputational harm. He is reportedly seeking legal redress, including damages and a declaration that his rights were violated.

The suit raises questions about the conduct of law enforcement agencies and the legality of the procedures followed during the operation that led to his detention. Officials from the named institutions are yet to publicly respond to the allegations at the time of filing.

Legal analysts say the case could test the limits of inter-agency cooperation and the protection of civil liberties within Ghana’s justice system.
