Ghana’s Star Referee Daniel Laryea Selected for AFCON 2025 Duties

Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Laryea has once again earned continental recognition as he has been selected to officiate at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The experienced referee, widely regarded as one of the best on the continent, will join a distinguished lineup of match officials chosen by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the upcoming competition. His selection comes as no surprise, given his consistent performance in both domestic and international football.

Laryea, who has officiated in major CAF competitions including the Champions League, Confederation Cup and previous AFCON editions, is praised for his calm presence, professionalism, and firm command of the game.

Sports analysts say his inclusion is a testament to Ghana’s growing reputation in football officiating and reflects the confidence CAF continues to place in his abilities.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has congratulated Laryea on the appointment, describing it as a proud moment for the nation and an inspiration to young referees across the country.

AFCON 2025, set to take place in Morocco, will feature some of Africa’s biggest football stars — and Laryea’s presence among the officiating team further strengthens Ghana’s representation at the tournament.
