A lawyer representing the complainant in the ongoing legal dispute involving highlife musician Daddy Lumba has suggested in court that Odo Broni—the woman at the centre of the case—was 14 years old when she allegedly entered into a romantic relationship with the musician.
The claim was made during court proceedings on Monday, as part of an argument aimed at establishing the nature and timeline of the relationship between the two. According to the lawyer, the alleged relationship began when the complainant was still a minor, a detail he argued was crucial to the case.
Daddy Lumba’s legal team immediately rejected the assertion, describing it as unfounded, misleading, and intended to sway public sentiment. They maintained that the musician has never engaged in any unlawful relationship, insisting that the narrative being pushed is a fabrication aimed at damaging his reputation.
The presiding judge cautioned both parties to ensure that their submissions remain grounded in verifiable evidence, noting that the court will rely strictly on documented facts, witness testimonies, and lawful procedures as the hearing progresses.
The case—already drawing widespread public attention—continues to generate debate online, with many calling for restraint and due process as the allegations are examined in court.
Proceedings are expected to continue next week, when both sides will present additional evidence.
