The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that a government-appointed fact-finding mission has submitted a preliminary report into the alleged murder of a Ghanaian student, Nana Agyei, in Latvia.
According to the Minister, the report was formally presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration following an initial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Ghanaian national’s death.
Speaking on the matter, Mr Ablakwa stated that the fact-finding team was tasked with engaging the Latvian authorities, reviewing available evidence, and assessing whether due process had been followed in the investigation. He noted that the preliminary findings will help guide Ghana’s next diplomatic and legal steps.
“The government takes the safety and welfare of Ghanaians abroad very seriously. This preliminary report provides an important foundation as we continue to seek justice and clarity in this unfortunate case,” the Minister stated.
He added that the Ministry is working closely with Ghana’s diplomatic mission and Latvian officials to ensure transparency, accountability, and full cooperation in the ongoing investigation.
