‘It Was Horrible’ — Nikki Samonas Opens Up on Backlash Over Intimate Scene With Jim Iyke

Ghanaian actress Nikki Samonas has opened up about the intense public backlash she faced following an intimate movie scene with Nigerian actor Jim Iyke, describing the experience as “horrible.”

Speaking in a recent interview, the actress revealed that the criticism and negative reactions from some members of the public took a heavy emotional toll on her at the time. According to her, many people misunderstood her role as an actress and judged her personally based on the scene.

Nikki Samonas explained that acting often requires performers to fully embody different characters and emotions, stressing that such scenes are part of professional filmmaking and should not be interpreted as real-life situations.

She noted that although she understood the nature of the entertainment industry, the level of criticism she received after the movie’s release was overwhelming.

“It was horrible,” she said while reflecting on the period, adding that the experience taught her important lessons about fame, public perception, and the pressures actors face in the film industry.

The actress also emphasised the need for audiences to appreciate the difference between movie roles and real life, urging viewers to support African cinema and the professionals working hard to grow the industry.

Over the years, Nikki Samonas has remained one of Ghana’s notable actresses, starring in several Ghanaian and international productions alongside top African movie stars, including Jim Iyke.
