Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan has reportedly fallen victim to a robbery incident while away on international duty with the Ghana national football team.
According to reports, unknown individuals allegedly broke into the player’s residence in Italy during his absence and made away with several personal belongings. The incident is said to have occurred while the striker was with the Black Stars for Ghana’s recent international assignment.
Afena-Gyan featured for Ghana in the team’s 2-0 defeat to Mexico as part of preparations for the upcoming international competitions. Reports indicate that the player discovered the burglary after returning to Italy following the national team engagement.
The 22-year-old attacker, who currently plays club football for Turkish side Amedspor on loan from Cremonese, has yet to publicly comment on the unfortunate development.
The incident adds to recent security concerns surrounding members of the Black Stars, following separate robbery reports involving the team during a stay in Austria earlier this year.
