GEA Empowers 196 Young Artisans with Start-up Kits under the BizBox Project

As part of the Ghana Enterprises Agency’s vision to create dignified and sustainable employment under the Business In A Box- Project, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ms Margaret Ansei, has presented start-up kits to 196 young artisans during a graduation ceremony at Kintampo South in the Bono Region.

The beneficiaries were trained under the BizBox Project’s Agric and Agribusiness to Entrepreneurship (AA2E) and Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship (A2E) components in various trades, including carpentry, dressmaking, plumbing, painting, auto mechanics, hairdressing, and cassava processing.

The start-up kits — which included sewing machines, hair dryers, wheelbarrows, cauldrons, cutters, paint sets, plumbing and carpentry tools — are designed to equip graduates to start and grow their own businesses.

In her remarks, Ms Ansei reaffirmed GEA’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs through business development services, market linkages, and mentorship. She emphasised that the BizBox Project aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy vision, which prioritises youth empowerment, skills development, and job creation.

The District Chief Executive for Kintampo South, Hon. Wilfred Zuuri, commended GEA for its continuous support and urged the graduates to make effective use of the tools provided.

Also in attendance were GEA officials: Mrs Mary Nkrumah Inusah (Partnership Coordinator, BizBox), Mrs. Juliana Adubofour (Ag. Director, WEDD), Ms Rejoice Tettey (Corporate Affairs Officer), and Ms Fatima Issaka (Coordinator, Agriculture and Agribusiness to Entrepreneurship – AA2E).
