Assin Central Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has dismissed public perceptions that portray him as a controversial or confrontational figure, insisting that he is a man of peace and principle.
Speaking in an interview with journalists over the weekend, the outspoken lawmaker emphasised that despite his often fiery public image, his actions are guided by honesty, fairness, and a genuine desire to see Ghana progress.
“I am not a troublesome person as people think. I only stand for the truth. When I speak strongly, it’s because I want things done right, not because I love chaos,” he said.
Mr. Agyapong, who has earned a reputation over the years for his frank opinions and no-nonsense approach to political discourse, clarified that his criticism of certain political decisions or officials should never be mistaken for personal attacks or rebellion.
He explained that his outspokenness is rooted in patriotism and his passion for accountability, particularly within his own party.
“If something is wrong, I will speak about it — even if it’s my own party. That’s not being troublesome; that’s being honest,” he added.
A Fiery Yet Patriotic Voice
Kennedy Agyapong, a successful businessman and long-serving legislator, is known for his influential role within the NPP and his unwavering advocacy for discipline, hard work, and youth empowerment. His political career, spanning more than two decades, has been defined by both controversy and admiration — a reflection of his fearless communication style.
He was a key contender in the NPP’s 2024 presidential primaries, where he campaigned on a message of integrity, transparency, and pragmatic leadership. Though he did not emerge as flagbearer, his campaign energised a new generation of supporters who viewed him as a bold voice for reform.
Commitment to Peace and Unity
Touching on the state of Ghana’s politics, Mr Agyapong urged his supporters and the general public to prioritise peace, unity, and development over partisan divisions.
“Politics should not divide us. We are one people with a common goal — building a better Ghana. That’s what matters,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting national initiatives that promote economic growth, job creation, and youth development, adding that Ghana’s success depends on leaders putting the people’s interests above personal ambition.
