The Ghana Police Service has dismissed as false a viral social media notice claiming that drivers and motorcyclists are prohibited from using AirPods, earphones and other audio devices while driving or riding.
The Service said the flyer circulating online was neither issued nor authorised by the Ghana Police Service, urging the public to disregard the publication.
The clarification follows the widespread circulation of a purported public safety notice suggesting that the use of such devices while operating vehicles or motorcycles had been banned under Ghanaian law.
According to the Police, motorists should instead familiarise themselves with the existing Road Traffic Regulations and comply fully with the applicable road-safety requirements.
The Service’s response is intended to prevent misinformation from causing unnecessary confusion among road users.

The Police have also urged the public to verify safety and regulatory notices through official channels before sharing them on social media.
The clarification comes as road safety remains a major concern, with authorities continuing to encourage motorists and other road users to exercise caution and remain attentive while using Ghana’s roads.
