Spanish giants Barcelona have officially unveiled midfielder Rodri following his high-profile transfer from Manchester City, completing one of the biggest moves of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old Spain international joins Barcelona after a hugely successful seven-year spell at Manchester City, where he made 298 appearances and helped the club win multiple major trophies, including four Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
Rodri arrives at Camp Nou as the reigning 2026 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner, after being named the tournament’s best player as Spain lifted the World Cup. FIFA confirmed that the midfielder was recognised for his influential performances at the heart of Spain’s midfield.
Barcelona have reportedly agreed a deal worth around €60 million plus €15 million in add-ons, with Rodri signing a contract that runs until June 2030.
The move represents a major coup for Barcelona, who reportedly fended off interest from Spanish rivals Real Madrid to secure the services of the experienced midfielder.
At Barcelona, Rodri is expected to play a key role in Hansi Flick’s midfield and has been viewed as a potential successor to the club’s legendary holding midfielders, particularly Sergio Busquets.
His arrival also adds significant experience and leadership to a Barcelona squad seeking continued domestic success and a stronger challenge in European competition.
With the World Cup-winning midfielder now officially presented, attention will turn to how quickly Rodri settles into Barcelona’s system and whether he can help the Catalan giants add more silverware to their trophy cabinet.
