Ghana Free Zones Authority Engages Chinese Investors on Investment Opportunities

The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has held discussions with a delegation of Chinese investors as part of efforts to promote Ghana’s investment opportunities and attract more foreign capital into the country’s industrial and export sectors.

The engagement forms part of Ghana’s broader drive to position the country as a competitive investment destination and leverage its Free Zones Programme to support industrialisation, export growth and job creation.

During the engagement, the GFZA highlighted opportunities available to investors within Ghana’s free zones and encouraged Chinese businesses to consider investments in value addition, manufacturing and other export-oriented activities.

The discussions also focused on the potential for Chinese investors to establish businesses and partnerships that can contribute to Ghana’s industrial transformation while creating employment opportunities for Ghanaians.

The engagement follows a series of Ghana-China investment initiatives aimed at deepening economic cooperation between the two countries. Earlier this year, Ghana showcased its industrial and Free Zones investment opportunities to Chinese investors during the Ghana-China Investment Forum.

Ghana has already attracted significant Chinese investment across sectors including manufacturing, textiles, ceramics, steel production, recycling and automobile assembly. Government officials have been encouraging investors to move beyond discussions and translate investment interest into concrete projects and partnerships.

The GFZA’s latest engagement is therefore expected to strengthen Ghana’s efforts to attract additional Chinese investment while expanding the country’s productive capacity and access to international markets.

The Authority continues to promote the Free Zones Programme as a platform for businesses seeking to establish export-oriented operations in Ghana and use the country as a gateway to the wider African market.
