Boso Odweegyi Festival 2026 Launched with Renewed Call for Unity and Cultural Preservation

The 2026 edition of the Boso Odweegyi Festival has been officially launched, with a strong call on citizens and stakeholders to promote unity and preserve Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The festival, celebrated annually in Boso in the Eastern Region, is known for showcasing the traditions, history, and values of the people. Organisers of this year’s event emphasised the importance of using the festival as a platform to strengthen community bonds and pass on cultural values to future generations.

Speaking at the launch, leaders highlighted that beyond the celebrations, the festival serves as a reminder of identity and shared heritage. They urged the public to actively participate and support initiatives that protect and promote local traditions.

The 2026 festival is expected to feature a range of activities, including traditional performances, cultural displays, and entertainment, bringing together people from across the country and beyond.

As preparations begin, organisers remain optimistic that this year’s celebration will not only entertain but also inspire a renewed commitment to unity and cultural preservation.

The festival will be celebrated under the theme, “Preserving Our Heritage for Unity and Development.”

According to the Planning Committee, the colourful and well-attended launch reflects a renewed commitment to promoting the rich cultural heritage of Boso while strengthening unity among its people. The committee emphasised that collective effort remains key to the success of the festival and the overall development of the town.

Traditional authorities present at the event also reiterated their support and encouraged residents to actively participate in the upcoming activities. They reaffirmed their dedication to preserving the cultural identity of Boso and maintaining peace and cohesion within the traditional area.

The Gyaasehene of the Boso Traditional Area used the occasion to signal what he described as a new chapter for the town, noting that “the era of divisions and court injunctions is behind us,” and declaring that Boso is now poised for progress through unity and a shared vision for development.

Providing historical insight, Special Guest Speaker Tettey Ansah highlighted Boso’s development journey and underscored the importance of unity in achieving sustainable growth. He urged residents to embrace peace and collaboration in building a brighter future for the community.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the official festival logo, symbolising a renewed vision to celebrate Boso’s heritage while promoting unity and development.

The Planning Committee expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, traditional leaders, and residents who contributed to the successful launch, and called for continued support and active participation in the activities leading up to the main festival.

“Together, let us preserve our heritage and build a united and prosperous Boso,” the statement concluded.
