New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Director at the Office of the Flagbearer, Dennis “Miracles” Aboagye, has expressed deep frustration over the impact of allegations surrounding his recent arrest by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), saying the controversy has severely affected both his reputation and family life.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Aboagye said he has been “defamed and maligned” following EOCO’s public statement linking him to the alleged misappropriation of approximately GH¢55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
According to him, the allegations have taken a heavy emotional toll on his household, revealing that his wife had packed her belongings because of the distress caused by the public accusations.
“I have been defamed and maligned. My wife has even packed her bags because of everything that has happened,” he lamented.
Aboagye maintained that he has done nothing wrong and insisted that no discussions regarding the alleged GH¢55 million took place during his engagement with EOCO investigators. He argued that the public narrative surrounding his arrest does not reflect the facts of the case.
His comments come after EOCO confirmed his arrest as part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial and procurement irregularities at the IMCCoD Secretariat. The anti-graft agency said the probe focuses on the suspected misappropriation, diversion and theft of public funds identified through a forensic audit covering the period between August 2022 and February 2025.
Aboagye was later granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties after spending time in EOCO custody. His arrest and subsequent bail conditions have generated significant political debate, with the NPP describing the conditions as excessive while investigations continue.
The investigations remain ongoing, and EOCO has indicated that further action will depend on the outcome of its inquiries. No court has determined Aboagye’s guilt, and the allegations remain under investigation.
