Evowheels Ghana and Yango Empower Drivers Through Electric Vehicle Ownership Scheme

Evowheels Ghana Motors and Yango Ride have partnered to help Ghanaian ride-hailing drivers own electric vehicles through an innovative Drive-To-Own programme.

Under the initiative, 15 Dongfeng Nammi 01 electric vehicles have been handed over to selected drivers in Accra as part of a three-year ownership scheme.

The programme is designed to provide drivers with a pathway from using vehicles for ride-hailing to eventually owning the cars they operate, while supporting the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation in Ghana.

The partnership is also expected to reduce some of the operating pressures associated with conventional vehicles and create opportunities for drivers to build long-term assets through their work.

The rollout represents another step in the growing adoption of electric mobility in Ghana, as private-sector companies explore innovative financing and vehicle-ownership models for commercial drivers.

The initiative also aligns with broader efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation and expand access to electric vehicles within Ghana’s growing mobility sector.

The first batch of 15 vehicles marks the beginning of the programme, with the partnership expected to create further opportunities for eligible Yango drivers to transition into electric vehicle ownership.
