85 Ghanaians Evacuated From Cambodia Between March and May This Year — Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has disclosed that 85 Ghanaians were evacuated from Cambodia between March and May 2026 as part of the government’s efforts to assist nationals who wished to return home.

According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Ghana’s High Commission in Malaysia, which is concurrently accredited to Cambodia, facilitated the evacuation exercise following engagements with affected citizens.

The update comes after the circulation of a widely shared notice claiming that African nationals, including Ghanaians, had been ordered to leave Cambodia or face arrest and imprisonment. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed the notice as fake after consultations with Cambodian authorities.

In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry clarified that Cambodian immigration authorities did not issue any such directive and urged the public to disregard the false information.

Ablakwa further revealed that arrangements are currently underway to evacuate an additional 76 Ghanaians in Cambodia who have also expressed interest in returning home voluntarily.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured Ghanaians that the government remains committed to protecting the welfare and safety of citizens abroad while working closely with Cambodian authorities to ensure a smooth evacuation process.
