Veteran Ghanaian actor Adjetey Annang has described the proposed Film Development Fund as a significant step forward for Ghana’s creative arts industry, particularly for independent filmmakers seeking financial support for their projects.
According to Adjetey Annang, the fund has the potential to address one of the biggest challenges facing filmmakers—access to funding—while creating opportunities for the production of high-quality local content that can compete on both local and international platforms.
The actor noted that many talented filmmakers struggle to bring their creative ideas to life due to limited financial resources, making the establishment of a dedicated film fund a welcome development for the industry.
He further emphasised that the initiative could help boost job creation within the creative sector, support emerging talents, and strengthen Ghana’s film industry by encouraging innovation and storytelling rooted in Ghanaian culture and experiences.
Industry stakeholders have also expressed optimism that the Film Development Fund will contribute to the growth and sustainability of the country’s film sector, helping filmmakers access the resources needed to produce impactful and commercially viable productions.
The fund is expected to play a key role in advancing Ghana’s creative economy and positioning the local film industry for greater regional and global recognition.
